You must have one (1) photo ID and one (1) ID with a signature.
Both must be current and not expired

Fingerprinting and Background Check

EFFECTIVE 1/21/23 FINGERPRINTING IS NOT AVAILABLE. WE DO NOT HAVE AN ETA FOR WHEN THE NEW SYSTEM WILL BE ONLINE.

The state of Idaho requires that all insurance license applications provide fingerprints prior to licensing. Giving your fingerprints will initiate a background check.

Nexus provides fingerprinting services on a walk-in basis only. All finger printers will be first-come, first-served basis.

** Fingerprinting hours are subject to change; we recommend checking before arriving at NEXUS.

Current Hours: Tuesday and Thursday 12:00 – 14:30 (2:30)

**We require a quiet environment; pets, children, and guests are not allowed with you for this service.

COST: Fingerprinting cost is set by PSI, and currently, it is $70. NO CASH and NO Personal Checks.

PSI electronically submits your fingerprints to the state; when your fingerprints complete the process, they (the state) will send the results directly to the Insurance Department.

With your fingerprint session, Nexus – PSI will provide you with an FBI CHRI Request and Release Form. Fill this form out and email it to the Idaho License Department.

PLEASE DO NOT Contact NEXUS about your fingerprints; WE are unable to see the status once we submit them.

Application Review

Once you have submitted your application and have filled all the other requirements, your license application will be reviewed by the state. Your background check will also be reviewed.

If everything is to acceptable standards, your license should be issued quickly. If there are any items from your background check that need to be reviewed, it may slow down the process of issuance. If this is the case, the state may contact you to provide context to the issues that they have run into.
The background check normally takes around five to ten (5-10) business days to complete. After the background check has returned, it will take one to two (1-2) more business days for the state to issue your license. Once the license is issued, you will receive an email from the state verifying your license.
